Verified Reviewer |Refused for flight
Status : eTA approved still refused for the flight
Name : Petrus Wilhelmus Johannes Dulos
Passport number : NWJ1HB131
eTA number : J52223****
Expiration : 2024/10/07
Airline: AIR CANADA
Flight number: AC809
Flight date: 01 March 2024
On February 29, I applied for an ETA for my partner and myself for permission to travel via Canada (transfer Toronto) to Miami USA. On 29 February at 12.53 I received the approval for the ETA by e-mail.
The approval for my wife also came in later. I was unable to respond to these No Reply emails.
Friday 01 March 2024 we tried to check in, for my partner no problem, but I was refused. because I didn't have an ETA. This while I had been approved according to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
(see attachment) I didn't know what to do and didn't get any advice on what to do. On the advice of another refused traveller I contacted Air Canada in Toronto to see if it was possible to rebook the flight to the next day so that I had time to make a new ETA application. (With this traveler, this could be arranged without problems and costs) It was not a problem for me at first and the rebooking could be moved to the next day, Saturday 2 March. After a few minutes, I learned that the rebooking was not possible because Air Canada could not see what fare I had paid for our tickets and where I had purchased them.
There was another option and that was new tickets for Cad 10,200 per ticket. To make a long story shorter: I didn't check in and my ticket expired. Suitcases off the plane again and totally powerless and without explanation you are at the airport.
I still don't understand why I was denied the flight to Toronto, and feel that Air Canada is responsible for the cancellation of the tickets. The lack of explanation and other reasons for this refusal and leaving me like this at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport makes me both angry and surprised.
I believe that Air Canada is responsible for the refusal without motivation or explanation and therefore want tickets to be reimbursed. This email has been translated into English and contains grammar/spelling errors and can be sent to Air Canada Montreal, Air Canada Netherlands and my legal aid.
Please confirm receipt.

hi good morning ,actually , my conflict with air canada is very common problem and fixable it was a misspelling fault , in 11 May 2022, i booked two tickets on flighthub website , my first child name is Danya , somehow the name printed on the ticket (Dayna) instead of Danya , so we had contacted with flighthub customers service right away , flighthub customer service requested i photocopy of my child passport to send a notice for air canada , in same time we were trying to contact with air canada customers service to get child name corrected , they clamed we cant help you with that because misspelling fault was not through them , and refused to cancel or refund us or correct the name , as it know i booked ticket in 11 may 2022 , and flight date is 15 may 2022 , where was enough of time to desolve the problem , simply this my problem with air canada it was money taken arbitrary from us .

Verified ReviewerAwful experience
My experience with Air Canada was nothing short of a complete disaster. I wouldn't wish this airline on my worst enemy.
To start, our departure was delayed by a mind-boggling two hours, and the reason? Apparently, the gate wasn't even available. So there we sat, like cattle, twiddling our thumbs, and wondering if this was some kind of cruel joke.
But oh, the delays didn't stop there. No, they continued throughout the flight.
It was as if Air Canada had a personal vendetta against punctuality. The flight attendants must have thought they were on vacation too, as they seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than addressing the frustrated passengers.
I'd like to say that the in-flight experience made up for it, but that would be a lie. The seats were about as comfortable as a park bench, and the in-flight entertainment was laughable at best.
It's safe to say that my next flight won't be booked with Air Canada. If you value your time and sanity, steer clear of this airline.

Verified ReviewerComplaint and Request for Compensation - Horrible Experience with Air Canada
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the service I recently experienced at the YVR airport.
I believe it is important to bring this matter to your attention so that you can address the issues and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
On 08, Nov 2023, my companions and I arrived at the airport a substantial 2 hours and 30 minutes before our scheduled flight to Los Angeles. However, we encountered difficulties with the check-in machines, which did not allow us to proceed(even though we got text messages for our seats). Seeking assistance, we approached an Air Canada employee who responded in a cold and dismissive manner, instructing us to join the line.
To our dismay, the line we were directed to was occupied by a customer dealing with visa complications, resulting in a delay of over an hour. Finally, when we were able to speak to a representative at the counter, we were informed that we were too late to check-in, despite it being 7:30 am and our flight scheduled for 8:20 am.
I must emphasize that we arrived at the airport well within the recommended timeframe and followed the instructions provided by your employee.
However, we were met with a complete lack of empathy and understanding. The representative's response, stating that it was our fault and that our only option was to purchase new tickets, and the tickets we purchased was CHEAP tickets, so it is probably nonrefundable, left us speechless and incredibly disappointed.
As a result of this unfortunate incident, we were forced to make last-minute arrangements and purchase new tickets at exorbitant prices. This unexpected financial burden, coupled with the stress and inconvenience caused by the situation, has left a lasting negative impression of Air Canada's customer service.
I kindly request that you thoroughly investigate this matter and take appropriate action to rectify the situation. I believe it is only fair to be compensated for the additional expenses we incurred due to the mishandling of our check-in process and the subsequent lack of assistance provided by your staff.
I trust that Air Canada, as a reputable airline, values its customers and strives to provide exceptional service.
I hope that you will address this issue promptly and take the necessary steps to ensure that incidents like this do not occur in the future. I look forward to a favorable resolution and a renewed faith in Air Canada's commitment to customer satisfaction.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Hamin Yeon

Verified Reviewer |I can't access my Aeroplan account
Hello. I have an Aeroplan account that I am unable to access because some time in my past I changed my email address was hacked.
I would like to change my contact information and have access to my Aeroplan card information. How can I do that? I do not remember my password either. Can you please help me?
I finally found Pissed Consumer and decided to try again.
Unfortunately PC was unable to get the desired results because Aeroplan would not respond to them either.
I am at a total loss on what to do next.
I cannot access my account so I do not know what points I have, nor can I use them. Aeroplan has been completely unreasonable and I don't know why.
User's recommendation: Aeroplan is unethical, inaccessible, and has poor customer service.

Re. AC588 15 / 16 March 2024
We've just finished a 4 week tour of S E Asia, traveling on 7 small and larger airlines.
Our trip hom Honolulu to Toronto was the worst way to end our vacation. The same old dreadful "food" AC has served for years. I had a dry bun with so much raw onion it brought tears. And the breakfast tasted like powdered eggs..Why do you serve finger food without towlettes to clean our hands?
Disgusting! On a long overnight flight could you not offer small pillows & blankets? I am 5'1" tall and your seats are extremely uncomfortable without a pillow behind my back. I feel crippled by the end of the flight.
We always order vegetarian food in advance, and not for the first time this came as a complete surprise to the cabin crew. The steward pointed out another passenger who had what looked like Indian vegan food and said to me,"See? He got it right." I was so angry at his reply, implying that it was our fault, which it was not. And why would someone come up the aisle from behind us to offer water in a dark cabin when we couldn't see them until they were well beyond us, instead of facing us.
That's just lack of care. I get the feeling some of them would rather be doing something else instead, and this has been my impression for years. I used to think you have the best trained cockpit crews, and we always get the extra leg room we've paid for, but that doesn't make up for the offhand treatment we get from unsmiling, uncaring, and unkempt staff. You would do well to see how other airlines like Cathay, Korean, even Vietnam Air treat their pax.
We will do our best not to fly Air Canada again, except maybe on short domestic flights.
And then, why be treated badly when we can fly Porter, who actually does care.
I'm not happy having to complain, but A C spoiled the end of our lovely holiday. For our national carrier, you're an embarassment.
User's recommendation: Bring your own food.

For something that is 100% your responsibility and fault, you have a lot of nerve saying they are unethical, inaccessible and have poor customer service. They need to post about you as an incompetent, lazy and entitled customer.
