Air Canada is the largest Canadian airline which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2007. The headquarters of the airline are in Montreal. The company provides its customers with scheduled air transportation as well as with charter air transportation. Air Canada affords a lot of vacation packages to many different places. The airline has a huge fleet size which is 11th in the world. The company is a founding member of Star Alliance which consists of 18 member airlines and was founded in 1997. The membership in this alliance gives to the passengers of the member airlines numerous possibilities to get some discounts and presents or some free miles. Airlines are companies which provide passenger and cargo transportation services using air planes. To offer such services each company has to have a relevant license or certificate. Airlines vary from those operating one plane to transport mail or cargo, to full-service international companies maintaining a fleet of airplanes. They distinguish between the following categories of airline services: domestic, intra continental or international, and intercontinental. Charter flights with scheduled services are also available. Airline personnel consists of pilots, flight engineers and flight attendants. Each plane has its own carrying capacity, thus there is a fixed seat number on the plane and passengers are allowed to have limited hand luggage with them. Other luggage goes separately in the luggage compartment. Onboard, passengers are offered drinks, snacks and rugs which are included in the price of the ticket. Before, during and after takeoff, flight attendants provide the passengers with the rule to be stick to in the plain.
